Description
The Organization
Parks PAC, founded in 2025, is the nation’s only political action committee that is solely dedicated to protecting and advancing America’s National Parks. The organization focuses on electing federal leaders who will vote to fully fund the 433 parks in the National Park system, keep these parks out of harm's way and support the federal workforce that works tirelessly to fulfill the NPS’ important mission.
After Donald J. Trump was re-elected in 2024, our National Parks came under immediate and escalating threat. It was instantly clear that our parks face constant, relentless attacks unless the Trump Administration’s power is effectively checked. Parks PAC was launched to address this urgent need, and in the short-term (2026), the most effective way to counter that power is to deny President Trump’s Administration from running roughshod over a compliant House and Senate. Congress is constitutionally charged with providing vigilant oversight of the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service. The Republican leadership has abandoned their role of providing checks and balances, and as a result, the Parks PAC’s immediate goal is to change the leadership in Congress.
Our core values embrace stewardship, accountability, equal access, historical accuracy, and science-based policy. We believe that voters across the political spectrum also embrace these values. The Parks PAC will elevate parks-related issues in targeted House campaigns, and channel that broad-based support into political action that delivers real results.
In the 2026 election cycle, Parks PAC will implement a targeted, election-focused strategy to sway the federal political landscape toward increased support for parks. We will focus on the U.S. House of Representatives, where narrow party control margins mean policy outcomes can shift with wins in an historically small number of districts. We will focus on competitive House races, and races in which anti-park incumbents secured a narrow margin of victory margin in 2024. These races are likely to be decided by a relatively small number of voters, and those who value National Parks tend to be less inclined to vote for candidates who vote to negatively impact the parks. We will raise the visibility of parks-related issues, and educate, activate and turn out pro-parks voters.
The Opportunity
Parks PAC is recruiting an experienced elections campaign professional or political consultant to serve as a part-time Project Director to lead the PAC’s organizational growth and program operations during its first election cycle. This is an exciting opportunity to make an important difference for our public lands and our country, by helping to establish an organization focused on activating voters to defend and support our National Parks and public lands at the ballot box by electing pro-parks candidates to federal office.
