Contract Term
This is a temporary full-time role expected to last approximately 10 months, with an anticipated end upon return of the incumbent.
While this position is temporary, there is potential for extension and for it to become permanent depending on business needs and performance.
Eligibility Requirements
This position is supported by government funding (https://ehrc.ca/programs/discovering-potential/) and is therefore subject to specific eligibility criteria. To be considered, applicants must meet the following requirements at the start of employment:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive);
- be under- or unemployed and not currently enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person with refugee protection in Canada; and
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with applicable provincial or territorial legislation.

The Role
The Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Membership and Business Development Coordinator to support its Membership and Business Development team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality administrative and member-facing services, supporting the coordination of sponsorship and exhibitor deliverables, and managing the membership database. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving member growth, engagement, and retention.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support & Process Optimization
Manage team calendars, inboxes, meeting logistics, and documentation.
Provide daily administrative support aligned with strategic goals; identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Membership Lifecycle: Renewals, Retention & Recruitment
Support annual membership renewal and recruitment campaigns by preparing proposals, managing renewals, onboarding new members, and following up on outstanding dues.
Conduct outreach and schedule sales and renewal calls
Serve as the primary contact for member technical and logistical inquiries.
Maintain member and prospect intelligence; assist with research, surveys, and promotional materials, including coordination of translations with the Communications team.
Sponsorship & Exhibitor Coordination
Track, invoice, and manage sponsor and exhibitor deliverables; ensure timely completion of internal obligations.
Build and manage forms, payment collection, and exhibitor booking processes using approved platforms.
Collaborate with Events and Communications teams to ensure efficient and profitable execution of deliverables.
Membership Database Management
Administer and maintain the membership CRM, including data entry, updates, member directories, integrations, and system configurations.
Lead the implementation of new CRM features, manage vendor relationships, and develop user guides and training materials.
Establish and enforce internal database policies; provide staff training and frontline support for database access and troubleshooting.
Industry Knowledge & General Duties
Maintain a foundational understanding of Canada’s renewable energy and energy storage sectors to support informed member engagement.
Perform additional duties as required to support the evolving needs of the Association.
Success Metrics
Strong collaboration and engagement with Membership & Business Development Team
Accurate and up-to-date membership database, with timely support provided to staff and members.
Smooth execution of renewal and onboarding processes, with measurable improvements in workflow efficiency and member experience.
Effective coordination and tracking of sponsorship and exhibitor deliverables, ensuring internal teams have what they need to fulfill commitments on time.
Positive feedback from members and internal stakeholders regarding responsiveness, organization, and support.

Administration and Systems
Software Proficiency — Advanced user of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and familiarity with membership database platforms (e.g., GrowthZone), billing systems, and related tools such as Adobe Acrobat, PandaDoc, Zoom, Jotform, and Simply Voting.
AI proficiency — The practical ability to work effectively with artificial intelligence tools in real-world professional tasks
Travel — Willingness to travel up to approximately 5% of the time, primarily within Canada.
Education & Experience
Qualification — University degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Years of Experience — Minimum 2 years in membership administration, information management, or related functions.
Member Relations — Demonstrated experience in client interaction, customer service, and member-based program delivery.
Event Support — Some knowledge of event coordination and logistics.
Sector Knowledge — General familiarity with the renewable energy and energy storage sectors is an asset.
Non-Profit Experience — Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset.
Language
English — Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
French — Proficiency in written and spoken French is preferred.
