Description
About Outdoorlink Services, Inc.
Outdoorlink Services, Inc. ("OLSI") is a field services contractor headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, serving the out-of-home advertising industry nationwide. OLSI plans, staffs, and executes large-scale installation and retrofit programs on billboard and sign structures across the United States.
Out-of-home inventory is spread across every state in the country, and the work of upgrading it — swapping lighting, installing control hardware, hanging structure material — has to happen structure by structure, in the field. OLSI is built to do that at scale: we take on multi-state programs for sign owners and operators and see them through from supply pickup to final documentation.
What OLSI Contractor Crews Do in the Field
- Lighting control device installation and exchange — removing legacy timer devices from billboards and installing cellular lighting control devices and modem cards in their place
- LED lighting retrofits — removing metal-halide fixtures from billboard structures and replacing them with LED fixtures
- Digital billboard service — on-site troubleshooting and service of digital display faces and their supporting systems
- LED module replacement and upgrade — replacing failed LED modules and performing display upgrades on digital faces
- IT equipment replacement — swapping media players, controllers, network hardware, power supplies, and related components
- Structure and material installation — installing sign face material, panels, and related structural components
- Fixture removal, rewiring, and related electrical service work
These run as large multi-state programs: a customer commits an inventory of structures, OLSI issues work orders by market, and contract crews move through those markets until the program is complete. That structure is what makes this remote, travel-based work — and it is what allows a productive crew to earn well, because pay is tied to units completed rather than hours logged.
OLSI delivers this work through a national network of independent contractor installation crews. We are currently expanding that network.

Position Summary
OLSI is seeking experienced sign installation and electrical contractors to perform billboard lighting retrofits, lighting control device installations, digital billboard service, and structure material installation on out-of-home advertising structures across the United States.
This is field work, and it is travel work. Crews are deployed to a market, work that market until the assigned inventory is complete, and then move to the next one. Most of our contractors run 3–4 weeks in the field and then take 1–2 weeks off before the next deployment. Deployment blocks are built around that rhythm, and we do our best to schedule around a contractor’s stated availability.
Compensation is entirely production-based. Contractors are paid per unit of completed work — per light fixture replaced, per foot of structure material installed, per control device installed — plus a trip fee for each structure visited. There is no hourly rate, no overtime, and no cap. A crew that works efficiently and cleanly earns more per day than a crew that does not.
Travel and Deployment
- Work is nationwide; contractors should expect to travel well outside their home region
- Deployments typically run 3–4 consecutive weeks, followed by 1–2 weeks off
- Contractors are responsible for their own travel, lodging, meals, and vehicle costs — these are factored into the per-unit rates rather than reimbursed separately
- Work orders identify the market, the structures, the supply pickup location, and the completion deadline
- Supplies (LED fixtures, control devices, LED modules, IT equipment, structure material) are picked up from a designated customer facility in each market
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Remove metal-halide lighting fixtures from billboard structures and install LED replacement fixtures supplied by the customer
- Remove existing timer devices and install lighting control devices and modem cards
- Service digital billboard displays on site, including diagnosing display faults and restoring faces to operation
- Replace and upgrade LED modules on digital display faces
- Replace IT equipment supporting digital displays — media players, controllers, network hardware, and power supplies
- Install sign structure material and related components
- Perform associated electrical work — wiring, connections, terminations — in compliance with the National Electrical Code and all applicable state and local codes\
- Work from aerial lifts, boom trucks, articulating boom platforms, and extensible boom platforms at height
- Follow the manufacturer specifications, and all applicable laws and codes, and any additional reference materials provided by OLSI (where these conflict, the manufacturer specs and applicable law control)
- Inspect all customer-supplied equipment and supplies for damage before leaving the supply facility; photograph and report any damage or defects within 24 hours
- Coordinate with the customer’s facility operations manager on equipment returns and debris disposal
- Report any damage caused during performance immediately to the OLSI project manager
- Leave every site clean, secure, and free of debris
Documentation requirements
- Photograph all fixtures, wiring, and components before and after work at every site
- Upload all site photographs to OLSI servers within 24 hours of completing the work
- Maintain a work log for every job: work order number, services performed, personnel on site, location, products installed, and quantities
- Submit work logs with every invoice
Out of scope: Contractors do not perform structural steel work or welding on customer structures. Any electrical work outside the defined scope requires advance written approval from OLSI through a change order.
Tools and Equipment
Contractors supply, at their own expense, all tools, equipment, and consumable supplies needed to perform the work — including a digital camera or camera-equipped phone.
OLSI provides the major equipment required to reach elevated fixtures: aerial lifts, boom trucks, articulating boom platforms, aerial ladders, extensible boom platforms, and similar heavy equipment. Contractors are responsible for inspecting this equipment on receipt, operating it safely and only within its intended use, keeping it maintained, and returning it in the same condition received, ordinary wear and tear excepted. Any unsafe condition must be reported to OLSI immediately and the equipment taken out of service until resolved.
Safety
- Safety governs everything on our job sites. Contractors and their personnel are expected to:
- Comply with all OSHA regulations and guidance, and use only OSHA-approved equipment and materials
- Follow all applicable safety programs imposed by a governmental entity and provide documentation of compliance
- Comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws
- Comply with any stop work order issued by OLSI on safety or contract compliance grounds.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
This work is physically demanding and carries serious risk of injury, including falls, electrical shock, insect, reptile, and animal bites. Contractors and their personnel must be able to:
- Work at significant heights from lifts, boom platforms, and ladders
- Lift and carry up to 90 pounds, repeatedly
- Stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and across all climates
- Work near energized electrical systems
- Drive and travel extensively, including long-distance highway travel between markets
Independent Contractor Notice
This is an independent contractor engagement, not employment. Contractors and their personnel are not employees or agents of OLSI for any purpose, and are not eligible for any employee benefits, employee compensation, pension, health, or fringe benefit plan of the company.
The contractor retains sole authority to hire, direct, control, supervise, schedule, discipline, and terminate its own personnel, and retains full control over the means and methods used to perform the work. OLSI specifies what is to be installed, where, and by when; the contractor determines how the work gets done. OLSI makes no withholdings and issues Form 1099.
Engagement is non-exclusive. Work is offered by work order and is not guaranteed in any quantity.
