The Role
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing accounting functions for the hotel. This includes bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, tax preparation, and financial statement review. The person in this position must have strong communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of company policies. All team members are expected to uphold Bunkhouse's culture and values in every interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction
- Communicate with Management team regarding P&Ls, budgets, financial forecasts, etc.
- Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management at all times via email, log books, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the properties and Bunkhouse are met
- Attend relevant meetings
- Oversee daily, weekly and monthly data entry done by staff at the Hotels
- Provide assistance to staff at the Hotels
- Ensure deadlines are met by staff at Hotels in order to be able to process Month End
- Process Month End and Year End, adhering to all applicable deadlines
- Prepare Month End and Year End Financial Statements for Review, within set deadlines
- Perform analysis of financial statements and reconciliations on balance sheet
- Prepare and submit all relevant taxes for properties
- Help to establish/correct policies and procedures related to accounting functions, cash control, meeting deadlines, etc.
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned by the Hotel DOF or General Manager
Qualifications

Experience Required:
- High School diploma or GED required; College degree preferred
- 2-3 years of related experience as a Junior Staff Accountant or Bookkeeper
- Hospitality experience preferred; multi-property experience a plus
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel/Word
- Familiarity with Property Management Systems and Point of Sale systems
- Strong mathematical skills including algebra and basic operations
