Description
Remote, part time SLP opening for a school district in WA state
FTE .4 (15 hours/week), school age students
MUST be able to work Pacific Standard time for WA based public schools
MUST have active WA DOH and WA ESA (Washington licensure is taking at least 2 months to process)
Speech-Language Pathologist Role
Caseload Management and Direct Therapy Job Responsibilities-
Form a cohesive relationship with school district staff based on respect and professionalism
Make all student case management decisions (interpreting test results, revising IEPs, etc.)
IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) are done by school district deadlines, meet student’s communication needs, and are supported by evaluation results
Perform dynamic evaluations/re-evaluations by deadlines and adhere to district requirements
Facilitate evidence-based therapy to address a student’s IEP goals and follow state/district curriculum standards
Effectively communicate information regarding IEPs, therapy services, schedules, and/or evaluations with legal guardians/parents and authorized school staff
Complete parent correspondence and education by email, online meetings and/or phone (ensure language used during communication is in parent’s native language)
Train school staff to provide in-class interventions that assist students in accessing curriculum
Attend all IEP and evaluation/re-evaluation meetings (see NLST Attendance Policy for details)
Participate as a collaborative intervention team member with school district staff
Indirect Therapy Job Responsibilities-
Attend School District SLP Meetings when content being discussed will be of benefit (continuing education provided, school district will discuss updates to policies, etc.)
Complete daily therapy notes and/or student attendance documentation as required by district
Progress reports are done by school district deadlines and follow district requirements
Collaborate with school staff to schedule students on speech caseload
Follow ASHA Scope of Practice for School SLPs, School Placement Special Education Handbooks/Policies, School Staff Policy Handbooks, and NLST Policies and Procedures
Abide by FERPA and HIPAA laws to maintain confidential student information
Participate in job-related learning competencies (i.e. evaluations/educational opportunities)
Provide acceptance of diversity and show respect to all students and colleagues
Demonstrate a positive attitude to support a collaborative work environment
Certifications and Licensure Requirements-
Valid State Educational/School Certificate and/or Licensure (as required by state)
Valid State SLP licensure for school placement state
Valid ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
CFY Speech-Language Pathologist Job Responsibilities-
Ensure SLP Supervisor is documenting hours CFY completes towards earning ASHA CCC’S
Follow all guidelines/policies set forth by ASHA for a CFY SLP
