About the Role
Powered by People is hiring passionate, hardworking Organizers to lead our 2026 voter registration, volunteer engagement, and empowerment programs across Texas. We’re building a team of dedicated individuals who believe in grassroots leadership, accountability, and the urgency of registering and activating every eligible voter to win elections for Democrats up and down the ballot in Texas.
Organizers will recruit, train, and support volunteers and interns to lead relational voter registration efforts, host community events, and grow our organizing presence in their assigned region and college campuses. The ideal candidate is a builder — someone who can connect with people, plan strategically, and motivate others to take ownership of this movement.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Management & Empowerment
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and interns with clear roles, metrics, and pathways for leadership
Empower volunteers to host events, train peers, and take initiative within their regions
Maintain ongoing communication and mentorship with core volunteer leaders
Event Hosting & Program Execution
Plan, schedule, and host voter registration and community events in your region, including on college campuses
Launch at least one major event within two weeks of hire and plan a full event calendar for the year ahead
Lead bi-weekly regional volunteer meetings to maintain engagement and provide program updates
Create & Maintain contact with a set of universities in organizer region
Recruit & Train PXP volunteers for major town halls, campus town halls, and other big events
Campus & Intern Management
Serve as the primary organizer for several assigned colleges, coordinating directly with campus partners and student interns
Set up, train, and manage college interns, ensuring they meet weekly goals and integrate into the regional organizing team
Contact colleges, universities, and other locations to secure sites and permissions for voter registration events
Digital Organizing & Communications
Use texting, calling, and other outreach tools to recruit and follow up with volunteers and voters
Maintain consistent contact with at most 200 voters in your assigned universe, in addition to your volunteer network
Teach others to use digital tools (Mobilize, Reach, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.) with patience and clarity
Accountability, Reporting & Professional Development
Track and report weekly metrics, including volunteer recruitment, event counts, voter contacts, and leadership development goals
Participate in weekly one-on-ones with the Organizing Director and weekly team calls to review performance and share learnings
Complete and participate in rigorous onboarding and ongoing organizer training to strengthen skills throughout the year
Engage in transparent accountability systems that allow volunteers to provide feedback on organizer performance and support
Qualifications
Commitment to Powered by People’s mission and values, and passion for building grassroots power in Texas
Experience in volunteer management, leadership development, or event organizing
Comfort with digital tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Mobilize, Reach, Zoom, etc.) and willingness to learn new platforms
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across remote and in-person settings
Access to a laptop, smartphone, and reliable transportation
Willingness to work evenings and weekends in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply
Must obtain VDR Certification within multiple local counties within 2 weeks of hire
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time, non-exempt position
$4,000/month
Healthcare eligibility after a waiting period
$50/month phone stipend

Requirements
- Ability to work a full-time schedule of approximately 40–50 hours per week, including at least 3–4 evenings per week and regular weekend events during peak periods
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment with clear weekly goals for events, voter contacts, and volunteer engagement
- Commitment to showing up reliably for weekly calls, one-on-ones, and regional volunteer meetings, and following through on agreed-upon plans
- Willingness to be held accountable by data and by volunteers, including participating in feedback processes and adjusting work based on that feedback
- Must reside in or be willing to regularly travel within the assigned region, including driving to campuses and community event sites
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience organizing on or with college campuses or student organizations
- Familiarity with Texas politics, local election cycles, or VDR work
- Prior involvement in voter registration, voter outreach, or electoral campaigns
- Experience planning large-scale events or town halls with many moving parts
