The Job
We are searching for a Recruiter in a volunteer role who will handle the following responsibilities by dedicating 5 - 7 hours weekly of volunteer time.
Full-Cycle Recruitment:
Manage the full recruitment cycle, from intake and candidate evaluation to orientation and final transition—ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all applicants.
Facilitate intake meetings and alignment sessions with hiring managers to clarify role needs and expectations.
Use structured tools for fair evaluation, complemented by informal conversations to deepen candidate understanding.
Coordinate interviews, candidate communication, and the preparation of appointment letters.
Onboarding & Candidate Transition:
Partner with Onboarding Coordinators to ensure smooth transitions for newly accepted volunteers.
Support the preparation of onboarding materials and scheduling orientation sessions.
Process Improvement & Collaboration:
Track and report recruitment metrics (e.g., applicant volume, time to placement, retention indicators).
Collaborate with the Human Resources team and hiring managers to continuously improve the recruitment and selection process.
Attend recruitment team meetings and contribute ideas for improving recruitment strategies.
Proactively seek learning opportunities (e.g., training, webinars, peer collaboration) to strengthen recruitment expertise.
Administrative & HR Support:
Maintain organized records of candidate progress and documentation.
Ensure confidential information is handled with professionalism and discretion.
Perform administrative and HR-related support tasks as required.
Outreach & Promotion:
Assist in promoting volunteer opportunities on volunteer boards, social media, and community channels.
Participate in outreach initiatives to expand the volunteer pipeline.
Build positive relationships with community partners, schools, and volunteer networks.
Requirements
Qualifications:
1–2 years of experience in Recruitment, HR, or Volunteer Coordination.
Education in Human Resources or related fields is an asset.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer-service skills.
High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
Passion for inclusion, equity, and purpose-driven volunteerism.
Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team as well as independently.
Comfortable using basic recruitment tools (e.g., spreadsheets, communication platforms); experience with Applicant Tracking Systems is an asset.
