Position Description:
The Central Library Adult Services team is seeking an energetic, professional Librarian II to provide reference assistance and readers’ advisory in person, over the phone, and online. The Librarian II will also develop and present adult programs, provide instruction to customers and staff, create online content, and assist with collection maintenance. Adult Services librarians also assist customers with library services, collections, and technology.

Central Library - 710 W. Cesar Chavez St., 78701 (Austin, Texas)
Salary Range:
Librarian II (Exempt) $57, 970 to $70,720.00
Hours and Schedule:
Full Time/40 hours per week (Sunday – Saturday) during the Central Library’s hours of operation:
- Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Monday - Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday - Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Evenings and weekend hours are required. Flexibility with the schedule is required. Hours and work schedules are subject to change depending on the business needs of the organization. Schedule may vary to include weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation with a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited college or university, plus two (2) years of experience as a professional librarian.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience responding to customers’ inquiries using various formats, such as in-person, via telephone, or email, using clear and professional communication.
- Experience researching and referencing various information formats to effectively respond to questions and inquiries.
- Experience planning and implementing public programs.
- Spanish language proficiency preferred.
