Description
We are a premiere, privately-owned Obstetrics & Gynecology practice serving the Austin area for over 70 years, affiliated with a hospital of excellence with an already existing hospitalist program, seeking a highly qualified Laborists Physician to join and be a part of our OBGYN team. The ideal candidate will provide dedicated in-house labor & delivery coverage, as well as ER coverage for our mutual gynecologic patients for our practice only.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Provide in-house coverage for labor and delivery unit shifts, including admissions, active labor management, all deliveries during the shift and only weekend postpartum rounds.
Act as the attending physician on behalf of our group only for onsite assigned shifts, with the ability to make decisions, perform deliveries and respond to obstetric emergencies, in coordination with the Austin Area OB/GYN and hospital staff.
Work collaboratively with the AAOBGYN physicians: when they are off-site or occupied, you assume responsibility; when they are on site, coordinate care seamlessly.
Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives and unit protocols for maternalfetal care and labor & delivery best practices.
Maintain excellent documentation in the electronic medical record, follow institutional policies, and support compliance and peer review activities.
Provide consultative support for triage, antepartum admissions and obstetric emergencies as required.
Be available for scheduled shifts (12-hour, 24-hour, or hybrid format depending on group preference) and participate in call rotation or back-up structure.
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree, with board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology (American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or equivalent).
Valid Texas medical license (or ability to obtain) and unrestricted privileges / eligibility at affiliated hospital(s).
Demonstrated experience in labor & delivery, obstetric triage, cesarean delivery, obstetric emergencies preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with physicians, midwives, nursing staff and hospital leadership.
Commitment to high-quality, evidence-based obstetric care and patient safety.
Comfortable working shifts (in-house coverage) and managing laboring patients independently during coverage periods.
Schedule & Call:
Coverage model: 12/24-hour in house shifts
Typical volume: (2-8) depending on hospital/practice census and 12 vs 24 hour shifts.
Provide opportunity for flexible scheduling, part-time or full-time options depending on candidate.
Potential partnership track, depending on candidate.
