Job Summary:
The Investment Officer plays a key role in mentoring Investment Analysts and supporting Senior Investment Officers and Assistant Vice Presidents. This position contributes to the investment decision-making process by performing meaningful due diligence and providing valuable insights to optimize portfolio performance. The Investment Officer leverages extensive experience in financial analysis, research, and investment principles to craft investment recommendations, support investment initiatives, and collaborate closely with the full investment team to achieve objectives that generate strong returns and deliver value to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct investment due diligence for potential investments, including comprehensive research and analysis to assess suitability and alignment with investment criteria.
- Prepare investment presentations and technical writing assignments.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to Investment Analysts, promoting team collaboration.
- Build and maintain financial models to assess performance and valuation of potential investments (e.g., DCF, CCA, scenario modeling).
- Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders; may participate in Limited Partner Advisory Committee (LPAC) meetings and review Limited Partnership Agreement (LPA) consents.
- Monitor the performance of existing investments, track key performance indicators, and conduct periodic reviews to ensure alignment with objectives.
- Generate portfolio and manager attribution reports for team and senior management.
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends and opportunities, and share insights through articles, presentations, or client interactions.
- Assist in preparing Investment Committee (IC) memos and presentations, and communicate investment strategies, performance results, and risk assessments.
- Generate ad-hoc reporting through various investment systems and ensure audit checklist compliance.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant investment or financial analysis experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience with financial modeling software such as PowerBI or Tableau.
- Pursuing CFA, CAIA, or similar industry certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and portfolio management.
- In-depth knowledge of valuation techniques, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and investment software.
- Ability to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and provide guidance.
- Strong analytical skills, financial modeling, and data interpretation.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to develop and implement investment strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Capacity to make informed investment decisions and monitor portfolio performance.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and market dynamics.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to group projects.
- Confidence in presenting investment ideas and strategies to stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and industry contacts.
- Demonstration of ethical behavior, integrity, and professionalism.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and work at a desk and computer for extended periods.
- Routine mobility around the worksite.
- May occasionally lift, carry, move, or set up equipment and materials up to 15 pounds.
Travel/Schedule Requirements:
- Domestic and/or international travel up to 10%.
- Hybrid office/telework schedule.
- Ability to work/travel outside of normal business hours.
