ABOUT THE ROLE
As Director of Philanthropic Advising, you will lead Movement Voter Project’s (MVP) major donor fundraising strategy by shaping and running the Donor Advising program. You will manage the Donor Advising team, carry a focused portfolio, and work side by side with the CDO to bring structure, strategy and energy to MVP’s major gifts work.
This role blends strategy, management, and execution to ensure MVP’s Donor Advising program is cohesive, data-driven, and built for long-term growth.

Lead and Support the Donor Advising Team
- Manage and coach Regional Philanthropic Directors, supporting them in portfolio management and regional team leadership
- Set clear goals and accountability while keeping the team motivated and aligned
- Build a team culture rooted in trust, collaboration and transparency
- Bring clarity and rhythm to how the Donor Advising team plans, communicates, and tracks progress
- Identify and resolve capacity gaps or bottlenecks early
Revenue Forecasting and Data Insights
- Oversee revenue forecasting for the donor advising team, ensuring projections are accurate and updated regularly
- Partner with Development Operations and the CDO to connect donor data with overall revenue goals
- Turn numbers into strategy, spotting trends, risks and growth opportunities
- Share insights with the team that help MVP stay one step ahead of challenges and funding shifts
Manage a Donor Portfolio
- Maintain a select portfolio of 15-20 top donors and prospects
- Build authentic long-term relationships focusing on alignment and shared values
- Create tailored cultivation and solicitation plans for each donor
- Collaborate with the CDO and Donor Advisors to ensure every donor feels connected and supported

Strengthen Systems and Tools
- Collaborate with the Development Operations Manager to ensure the CRM is set up to meet the needs of the donor advising team, work with donor advisors to ensure they track their work accurately in the CRM, and use the data to evaluate progress and make informed decisions
- Design and implement systems and processes for key fundraising strategies where they have been lacking (for example, prospecting)
- Simplify and automate where possible, freeing the team to spend more time with donors
Collaborate Across MVP
- Work closely with Mid-Level, Foundations, Donor Organizing, and Communications teams to ensure a consistent and inspiring donor experience
- Partner with Programs and Communications teams so donor communications reflect MVP’s current work and priorities
- Share donor insights that inform MVP’s broader fundraising, organizing and messaging
Partner with the Chief Development Officer
- Serve as a senior thought partner to the CDO, helping drive crisp, coordinated fundraising strategy
- Bring focus and follow-through to major gifts planning and team priorities
- Keep the CDO informed on progress, risks, and opportunities within the donor advising team
- Lead the day-to-day management of the donor advising program so the CDO can stay focused on big picture vision, strategy, and top-tier relationships

- The donor advising team runs like a confident, high performing unit with increasing revenue
- Forecasts and systems are accurate, current, and actually used
- Donors feel known, valued, and inspired to deepen their support
- The CDO has a strategic partner in planning, priorities, and execution
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Deep mission alignment, clear-eyed yet unwavering hopefulness, and a passion for working at the intersection of organizing, social movements, and electoral politics.
- A genuine love for donors, large and small, and appreciation for their role in advancing progress.
- A track record of success in major gifts leadership
- An enthusiastic and skilled manager of people
- Fluency with and affinity for data
- A designer and manager of systems that enable teams to do their best work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-entity fundraising experience across 501(c)3, 501(c)4 and PAC giving
- A strong communicator able to make an inspiring case to donor audiences
- Fluency with Salesforce
OTHER DETAILS
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Full-time, remote, exempt position
- Some travel is required for team retreats and conferences (~20%)
Direct Reports
- Three Regional Philanthropic Directors and two Senior Advisors

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $160,000-180,000 (based on experience), plus a generous benefits package.
