About the Organization: The Committee to Protect Health Care is an advocacy organization that
seeks universal, quality health care for all Americans. Led by physicians and supported by a full
staff of campaign professionals, the Committee effects change in health care policy and politics
through physician organizing, paid media, lobbying, earned media, and new media. We strive to
win in both legislative and electoral arenas, at both the state and federal levels. As the media
environment continues to change, we aim to evolve with it.
About the Position: The Committee to Protect Health Care seeks a communications associate to
help execute aggressive earned, social, and new media plans in a variety of high-profile
campaigns across the country, including but not limited to: State ballot initiatives to advance
abortion rights; accountability for GOP politicians who cut health care, abortion access, etc.;
electing health care champions at the state and national levels; passing state health care reforms
like lowering prescription drug costs, and more.
The ideal candidate for the communications associate position is comfortable navigating a
fast-paced workplace, communicating with a wide variety of people including doctors, reporters,
etc., and adjusting to new goals and sets of priorities. Diplomacy, ability to handle multiple
projects at once, and a drive to meet time-bound goals are a must. An ability to digest best
messaging guidance for different campaigns and produce on-message materials is necessary.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Craft quality, on-message press materials (including press releases, talking points, media
advisories, etc.), social media content, and other organizational materials in a timely
manner.
Lead and/or assist with planned media events (usually virtual) as well as rapid response
efforts.
Pitch local media outlets and reporters via phone on attending press events (often in early
morning hours), as well as make connections with podcast hosts and other new media
personalities.
Help monitor social media and news for health care and political developments relevant
to proactive strategy or necessitating media response.
Desired Qualifications:
2-3 years+ experience in communications, preferably in the political or non-profit arenas
Excellent written communication skills (copywriting)
Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work
Efficient prioritization skills
Flexibility with work schedule to keep pace with news cycle and rapid responses
Drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and take on new challenges
Commitment to improving health care system, including protecting abortion access
Position Toplines:
Hours: Full time. Our typical hours are 9am - 5pm ET, but the ability to work a flexible schedule
that includes nights and weekends when necessary is a requirement. Please note that other
members of the team work on Eastern and Central time, but we work in time zones across the
country and welcome other schedules.

Health Care: 100% premium reimbursement for ACA exchange policies
