The Associate Director of Sales & Events plays a vital dual role in shaping transformative group experiences while driving strategic sales efforts for the resort. This position is responsible for leading a team of Event Managers and/or Coordinators, managing select key accounts, and supporting the Director of Sales in achieving both revenue and experiential goals. - Lead weekly sales meetings, contribute to the annual business plan and forecasting processes, and collaborate on owner updates and performance reporting.
- Represent Miraval Austin at relevant industry trade shows, networking events, and client entertainment opportunities to build brand awareness and business relationships.
- Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and performance metrics to drive sales opportunities that align with Miraval's values and offerings.
Event Planning & Execution
- Oversee the planning and execution of group business, including wellness retreats, resort buyouts, corporate gatherings, and intentional celebrations.
- Maintain an active presence throughout the group experience-from initial inquiry through post-event reflection-ensuring each detail is crafted with care and precision.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Culinary, Spa, Wellness, and Guest Services to deliver cohesive and impactful programming.
- Carry and achieve event-related revenue goals while maintaining the integrity of the Miraval brand.
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide mindful leadership and mentorship to the Sales and Events team, fostering professional growth and alignment with Miraval's mission and culture.
- Support administrative and supervisory functions including recruiting, training, and performance development within both the Sales and Events teams.
- Serve as a grounding force within the department, upholding our standards of excellence while encouraging creativity, compassion, and mindfulness in every interaction.
- Act as the lead in the absence of the Director of Sales, ensuring continuity and effective communication across all internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A genuine desire to create extraordinary, purposeful experiences for guests and colleagues alike.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in hospitality sales, event leadership, or event planning.
- Proven leadership experience in a sales environment, including staff mentoring, systems management, and strategic business development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a refined, intuitive approach to guest and team interaction.
- Proficiency in hospitality systems (Delphi, Opera, Envision, etc.) and general computer knowledge.
- CMP or equivalent certification preferred; familiarity with Together by Hyatt, Hyatt Sales Training, or MEET is a plus.
- Flexibility and openness to relocation for future growth within the Miraval and Hyatt portfolios.
