Description
A growing family law firm in Austin is seeking a Texas-licensed Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of family law litigation experience to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to manage your own caseload while collaborating with experienced partners and attorneys on complex family law matters.
The position focuses primarily on divorce, child custody, and other family law disputes, including cases involving property division, enforcement actions, and modifications. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing cases from initial consultation through resolution while maintaining a high level of professionalism and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of family law matters including divorce, child custody, modifications, and enforcement actions
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda
- Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case strategy, status updates, and expectations
- Work collaboratively with partners and other attorneys on complex litigation matters
- Assist partners with case strategy, discovery, trial preparation, and special projects
- Review and analyze discovery, prepare discovery responses, and conduct witness preparation
- Maintain accurate case files and comply with court deadlines and procedural requirements
Requirements
- Texas Bar license required
- 3–5 years of family law litigation experience
- Demonstrated experience handling hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Excellent legal research and drafting abilities
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively within a team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Professional demeanor and commitment to client service
Preferred Experience
- Experience practicing in Texas family courts
- Familiarity with case management software and modern legal practice tools
- Experience managing complex or high-conflict family law matters
